Annotations are a powerful way to capture what’s happening in your life and see it alongside your other data in your Timeline.

You can use pre-built Annotation templates or create your own from scratch.

All of this lives in the Record tab.

Using pre-built Annotation templates

We’ve included some ready-made Annotations, including ones configured with input from providers.

  1. Go to the Record tab.

  2. Browse the categories:

    • Sleep

    • Mind

    • Body

  3. Tap any Annotation to see its details.

  4. To customize it:

    • Tap Clone to make your own editable version

    • Edit the name, description, Data Tracks, and tags as needed

  5. (Optional) Turn on reminders.

  6. Tap Save.

Creating your own custom Annotation

  1. Open the Context app.

  2. Go to the Record tab.

  3. Tap the compose button in the bottom right.

  4. Enter your Annotation name and (optional) description

    • Example:

      • Name: Daily Check-in

      • Description: How are you today?

  5. Add Data Tracks to this Annotation:

    • Tap Select Data

    • You can:

      • Select existing Data Tracks, or

      • Create a new Data Track directly (see steps here).

  6. (Optional) Add tags you want to attach when this Annotation is recorded

    • For example: workday, training day, weekend, etc.

  7. (Optional) Turn on reminders.

  8. Tap Save in the top right.

Your new Annotation will now appear in the Record tab (under Recent or Custom) and can be triggered anytime or scheduled via reminders.

Once you’ve created Annotations, anything you record will show up in your Timeline, ready to be layered with your sleep, activity, and other data so you can actually see what’s going on.
